Treating
Temporomandibular Joint Disease (TMJ and TMD)
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) occur as a result of problems within structures of the jaw joint. Sufferers of TMJ often grind or clench their teeth while they sleep due to stress causing sore muscles, jaw pain and migraines upon waking. Their jaw may also click, pop or lock. Besides preventing you from feeling refreshed after sleep, orthodontic relapse and skeletal problems with the bite can result from not treating TMJ.
When there is a problem in the functioning of the joint on one or both sides—if you experience pain when you move your jaw, pain in your ears or face and neck, or other similar issues—you could have TMD.
